3F: Justin Chu(10)

This is the Victoria-Cedar association (VCA) run which took place at the east coast park on the 24th of February 2012

Q1) Why is it relevant for every Victorian to be global-minded?

Ans: It is relevant because Victorians need to explore new ideas and perspectives as well as humility to learn and willingness to work with people around the globe.

Q2) How may global-mindedness in you be evident to your friends?

Ans: It is evident from the 7-day missionary trip my family and I made to Cambodia to help the less fortunate children by helping to teach at the schools, painting the old buildings, and just being around to entertain the children.

Q3) What do you think best fosters the development of global mindedness in a person?  (You may consider the character virtue, school programmes or environment)

Ans: As a student I feel the more convenient way to foster the development of global mindedness in a person is stay up to date with both local and international news which may or may not affect us by reading newspapers, watch news channels on the television or even reading articles online.

Q4) Briefly comment on the comment - "A global mindset combines an openness to and awareness of diversity across cultures. It respects how different countries do things and has the imagination to appreciate why other cultures do them that way. But, a global mindset is also incisive ― to push the limits of one's own way of doing things."

Ans: I feel that this comment is very meaningful as it tells us that we should strive to achieve goals that benefit everyone around us by putting aside and respecting each another's differences and working together towards a common goal.
